Overview
• To provide specialist engineering knowledge to a range of projects to implement Communication, Navigation, Surveillance (CNS) equipment and Air Traffic Management systems.
• To assist in the preparation of business cases.
• To generate functional requirements and technical specifications for a variety of CNS equipment and ATM systems.
• To provide input to the procurement process and to represent, when required, ANS with specific suppliers & contractors.
• To act as the ANS focal point for designated projects.
• To ensure the generation of project documentation, such as System Design Documents, Functional Requirements, Dependency matrices and Management of Change forms, for designated projects.
• To participate in project activities, such as Hazard Identification meetings.
• To represent ANS at designated meetings and with specified stakeholders.
Will also be responsible to:
1. To assist with the preparation of Business Cases and budget submissions.
2. To input to the planning and implementation of CNS and ATM system projects.
3. To develop and document functional requirements and technical specifications.
4. To generate System Design documentation.
5. To input to the development of project timescales.
6. To input to the content of Project Management Plans.
7. To represent ANS, as requested, during the procurement of CNS equipment and ATM systems.
8. To represent ANS with suppliers, as required.
9. To manage designated projects so as to ensure timely delivery to an acceptable level of quality.
10. To manage project risks and escalate risks as appropriate.
11. To oversee Quality Assurance on designated projects.
12. To report progress of designated projects on a regular basis.
13. To present reports summarizing project progress, detailing problems and defining solutions.
14. To manage designated projects to ensure timely implementation, within budget and to stated specification and acceptable level of quality.
15. To facilitate project ‘wash up’ meetings and capture lessons learnt.

Qualification
Engineering degree as a minimum and a Masters degree would be preferable.
Comprehensive knowledge of a range of Air Traffic equipment, including communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) systems.
Knowledge of Rules and Regulations regarding the operations and maintenance of ANS and ATS equipment and systems.
Awareness of emerging ATM concepts and technologies.
Project Management qualification, such as AMP or PMP, is desirable.
Knowledge of project management techniques and tools would be beneficial.
Experience
A minimum of 3 years experience of maintaining and/or developing a range of CNS equipment and ATM systems.
Experience of working on integrated ATM systems, including interfaces to external systems.
Experience of project delivery in an ATC environment is preferential.
Proficiency with project management software, especially MS Project, is desirable.
Previous involvement in risk management and change management.
Knowledge of QMS/IMS and SMS standards.
Good computer literacy in Office application programs (essentially MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Project applications and Adobe).
