The Manager- Aviation SMS is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with ICAO Annex 19 and UAE MAR or any other applicable regulations. The role ensures effective hazard identification, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion across all aviation activities, supporting regulatory compliance and organizational safety objectives.
• Monitor safety performance indicators and escalate safety concerns as required
• Drive continuous improvement of SMS processes, tools, and performance
• Analyze safety data and trends to identify improvement opportunities
• Develop and deliver SMS training and safety awareness programs
• Ensure SMS competency requirements are met across the organization
• Develop, review, and maintain SMS manuals, policies, and procedures
• Ensure alignment with ICAO Annex 19 and UAE MAR Compliance matrix or any other applicable regulations
• Support integration of SMS with Quality and compliance frameworks
• Promote a just culture and proactive safety mindset
• Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to Senior Officer – Aviation SMS and Officer – Aviation SMS
• Conduct performance management, coaching, and mentoring
• Prepare safety performance reports, dashboards, and presentations
• Report SMS performance to senior management and safety committees

Qualification
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Safety Management, or a related discipline
Postgraduate qualification or diploma in Aviation Safety / SMS (preferred).
Experience
• Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience working in an aviation Safety, Quality Assurance, or Operational environment
• Proven experience in implementing, managing, and maintaining an Aviation SMS
• Experience interfacing with UAE MAR/GCAA or any other applicable regulations
• Experience supporting regulatory audits and inspections
